Arsenal are considering a potential transfer move for Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi, according to reports.

With Neto set to leave next summer, the Gunners are looking to bring in a player who can act as backup to their No.1 David Raya.

It's thought that Mikel Arteta is looking to bring in experienced cover for the Spaniard and Carnesecchi is a target, per Italian outlet Tuttosport.

Neto is currently on loan at Arsenal from Bournemouth, having signed on Deadline Day during the summer, but it looks as though the move won't go beyond that.

Carnesecchi is just 24 years of age and would represent yet another goalkeeper to come in and work under Mikel Arteta. Bernd Leno started when the head coach first joined. Then Emiliano Martinez took over when the German was injured. Aaron Ramsdale was then signed and had a great 2022/23 season, before Raya took over from the England international, who was then sold to Southampton.

But Carnesecchi is not the only Atalanta player that Arsenal are looking at. Ademola Lookman would accept an offer from Arsenal should it be forthcoming in 2025.

According to GiveMeSport, the Nigerian sensation would like to return to England when the season ends and Atalanta are likely to sanction a sale at the right price - at the end of the season - as his contract expires in 2026.

Lookman has emerged as one of Europe’s most admired players in 2024, scoring a legendary hattrick for Atalanta in the 3-0 Europa League final victory over Bayer Leverkusen.

This has attracted the interest of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with PSG close to signing the Nigerian in the summer.

In the closing days of the summer window, PSG turned Lookman’s head and he agreed personal terms on a contract worth €5 million year until 2029.

He would still like to join a bigger club in 2025 and Arsenal have been heavily linked in recent weeks.

Arsenal are looking to strengthen their goal-shy attack after a difficult start to the season that has seen them already fall out of the title race. The Gunners see the Nigeria international as an ideal player for the left wing of Mikel Arteta’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

Leandro Trossard is expected to leave Arsenal in the January transfer market, while Gabriel Martinelli has seen his levels drop over the last year.

GMS reports there is also interest in the Premier League from Tottenham, Newcastle and Liverpool, while Man Utd have been linked elsewhere.
