Manchester United could know “in the next couple of weeks” whether they have won the race to sign Rosenborg attacking midfielder Sverre Nypan, according to journalist Graeme Bailey.
Speaking to United in Focus, Bailey said that the teenager is being pushed to make a decision by his club:
“It’s coming to January now and his club are pushing him for a decision. That is what I am hearing at the moment. Rosenborg are hoping for a breakthrough. Rosenborg want to know what’s happening.”

“They’re hopeful, I would expect something in the next couple of weeks. I imagine we will know by early January if he is going to move, which all indications are he will.”
What do fans need to know about Nypan?
The 18-year-old has already been compared to Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard. He is a playmaker, having scored 8 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 appearances for Rosenborg this season.
Despite his young age, Nypan is mature beyond his years, and his potential has attracted the attention of the Red Devils and several other clubs.
United do have competition for the player
It was reported earlier this week that, in addition to Ruben Amorim’s team, Chelsea have made contact with the teenager’s agents, while the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Dortmund have sent scouts to watch him in action recently
A lot may come down to which club is prepared to pay Nypan’s asking price. It is believed a fee of around £15m may be needed to secure his signature in January.
Based on the latest information, it seems United are the ones pushing the hardest to make the deal happen and we will likely find out more when the transfer window opens next month.
