Jason Cundy has praised Chelsea star Marc Guiu after the latter's hattrick against Shamrock Rovers. The Spaniard scored three goals in the first half as the Blues eased to a 5-1 win over the Irish side in the UEFA Conference League.

Speaking on Chelsea's app, Cundy recalled watching Guiu in pre-season and claimed that the youngster was chasing balls all the time. He added that the striker goes after balls even if the opponent is going to comfortably win the race.

He said:

"I saw Guiu in pre-season, and we were all very excited about what we saw. He's quick. He closes down. He chases lost causes. He even chases balls you shouldn't win. This is an example. He anticipates the ball going back to the goalkeepers. That's not by accident. He's earned that goal."

Talking about the goal yesterday and how the Chelsea star made it happen, Cundy added:

"It's a brilliant piece of striker instinct to get himself there. Then he's still got a bit of work to do. He's got to compose himself. He's nipped in front of the goalkeeper. The angle is tight and narrow. Make sure you get a good first touch and slide into the empty net…Brilliant piece of anticipating goalscoring nouse. Well done him."

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Cucurella scored the other goals for Chelsea as they finished with six wins in six matches in the league phase. They topped the charts and have scored 26 goals in all matches so far, despite playing a second-string side .

Marc Guiu unhappy at Chelsea despite hattrick, says Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca has revealed that Marc Guiu is unhappy at Chelsea because he is fighting for his position with Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku. He added that the Spaniard is still working hard in training and said:

"Marc is a bit unhappy as Nicolas [Jackson] and Christopher [Nkunku] are doing well. When you're a nine and another nine is doing well it is a matter of being questioned. It is important that they work hard day by day and then they get a chance."

When quizzed about the performance on Thursday night, Maresca added:

"Very happy with the performances and results. In these kind of games it is easy not to do. They showed how professional they are and this is the right way. Since we started we have tried to share minutes - tonight was for young players. Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George are still very young, but we are very happy with them."

Chelsea will face Everton this weekend in the league and could go on top of the table for the time being if they win as Liverpool play Tottenham later on Sunday.
