Sean Dyche has received security for his position at Everton but has been warned that there will not be a “warchest” available to strengthen in January, according to the Daily Mirror.

Following the confirmed takeover by The Friedkin Group, several questions emerged regarding the future of Dyche as well as the state of play ahead of the January transfer window.

Despite concerns about Dyche’s suitability at Everton, the ex-Burnley boss will remain in charge but will “have his hands tied” in January when it comes to transfers as a result of PSR concerns.

As reported in the print edition of the Daily Mirror (20 December, pg 59), the Friedkins have their eyes set on Premier League survival but with last season’s point deduction in mind, there will be no “warchest” available for Dyche and Everton will be “treading mighty carefully”.

Sean Dyche call is a big one for TFG at Everton

TFG’s decision to keep Dyche at the club may be something that can only be assessed in hindsight once the season has curtailed but from the current point of view, it seems a strong yet risky decision.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Toffees look all but nailed on to be involved in a relegation dogfight this season and if there are to be limited funds available in January, much of the work will be laid upon Dyche to turn the fortunes around at Goodison Park which he has failed to do so far.

Dyche has been backed to save Everton from relegation by Darren Bent but in order to achieve that, he will have to adapt the way he typically works as it has evidently failed to pay off for the Toffees this season.

With that said, there is more than enough quality in the squad to steer clear of relegation and the additional sprinkle of quality in January should serve them well.

Given there will be limited funds, Everton have to do their due diligence before making any business moves and they simply cant afford to get it wrong.

In other Everton news, the Toffees could be set to make an “attractive” bid for a forward.
