'Brilliant' player Everton are eyeing for January left 'really upset' after suffering worrying…

Everton’s new owners have arrived just at the right time with the January transfer window set to open in the coming days.

Sean Dyche’s side did spend over the summer, but there is clearly still a lot of room for improvement with Everton sitting all the way down in 16th spot of the table.

Well over a year of takeover speculation has finally come to an end on Merseyside but it is now just the start of the work which The Friedkin Group need to carry out.

Dyche has been slammed for not using his summer signings at Everton with the January window offering the new owners their first opportunity to put their stamp on the side.

However, there is one player who Everton may now be unable to pursue after he left the pitch on Thursday night through injury.

Ruben Amorim provided Lindelof with an opportunity in a rotated starting XI, but the centre-back was unable to see out the first half.

The 30-year-old was in clear discomfort and left the pitch as he took off his shirt in frustration as he walked down the tunnel.

Speaking on Sky Sports commentary duty, Gary Neville admitted the defender looked ‘really upset’ as he returned to the dressing room.

Everton’s interest in the defender comes amid the growing interest in Jarrad Branthwaite from Man United with Amorim already greenlighting the defender.

What Ruben Amorim said about Lindelof’s injury

The true extent of the injury is not yet known, but the defender’s frustration was there for all to see.

Harry Maguire previously hailed Lindelof as ‘brilliant’ despite his injury issues causing the defender clear disruption to his development.

Speaking to MUTV after the game, Amorim shared what he knew about the injury sustained in north London.

“I think he has something we have to assess to say specifically what he has but it’s tough to lose a player,” he said.

“They work really hard, they want to return but like I said, the same thing with Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Vic, they had injuries, they don’t have space to train.”

Lindelof has played just 339 minutes of football this season and that looks set to be paused once again.
