Kiernan Tierney may have made his first Arsenal appearance in almost two years in the EFL Cup against Crystal Palace earlier this week.
But his career in North London is drawing to an end with the news that the club are not going to exercise an option to extend his contract by another year.
That means he can leave for free at the end of the season or for a modest fee in January if a buyer can be found.
The Scot had been injured on international duty at the Euros in the summer, and, but for that, might have been sold earlier.
A conventional full-back who prefers to overlap, he has shown that he does not have the inability to invert as Mikel Arteta likes all those who play in that position to do.
And with the emergence of Miles Lewis-Skelly, there is no less dependence on him as a back-up option at the Emirates.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
