Ruben Amorim has revealed Manchester United will be without another player after Victor Lindelof suffered an injury setback in Thursday's cup defeat.
United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Tottenham in a thrilling 4-3 defeat that saw the visitors make a series of key defensive mistakes on their trip to the capital.
Amorim made a swathe of changes as he opted to rest more regular starters for the cup clash and named Lindelof as a surprise start in a three-man centre-back partnership.
The Sweden international has been sidelined since suffering an injury while competing in the Nations League last month but was declared fit enough to make his first start under Amorim.
It was a chance for Lindelof to impress the newly-appointed United head coach amidst fierce defensive competition at the club only to leave the pitch distraught with a new injury complaint.
The 30-year-old appeared in pain as he was substituted just before half-time against Spurs and concerningly headed straight down the tunnel with a physio after being unable to continue.

Veteran defender Jonny Evans replaced him and later scored at the death as United threatened to produce an incredible comeback but ultimately fall short.
Now, Amorim has provided a worrying injury update on the centre-back and revealed the club are now launching an investigation to discover the extent of his latest complaint.
'I think he has something we have to assess to say specifically what he has but it's tough to lose a player,' Amorim told MUTV.
'They work really hard, they want to return but like I said, the same thing with Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Vic, they had injuries, they don't have space to train.
'Just preparing games is not perfect so we'll try to do it again altogether to have the full squad because with this schedule we need the full squad,' he added.

It's been a frustrating few weeks on the injury front for Amorim who also lost midfielder Mount during Sunday's Manchester derby victory in another major blow for the England international.
Mount's United career has been blighted by repetitive injuries since he joined the club last year and could now face an extended spell in the treatment room alongside Lindelof and others.
