Chelsea finished their Europa Conference League group campaign with a sixth straight victory, this time against Irish side Shamrock Rovers on Thursday night.
The Blues went ahead when Marc Guiu capitalised on a defensive error, but the visitors were soon level thanks to a deflected goal.
Guiu then once again pounced on an error at the back, this time a loose back pass, to slot the hosts into a 2-1 lead.
Midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall then added a third, before Guiu completed a first-half hat-trick with a flicked header to earn the hosts a 4-1 lead at the break.
In the second half full-back Marc Cucurella added Chelsea’s fifth, and the match ended 5-1 meaning Enzo Maresca’s side finish the group phase with a perfect record of six wins from six games.
The West London side won’t play in Europe again until March, but in the meantime it appears that they have already agreed a deal to sign a player next summer.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, the Blues have already reached an agreement with Jadon Sancho to sign the player permanently next summer.
Sancho has showed glimpses of his best form since joining Chelsea on loan over the summer
The winger is currently on loan at Stamford Bridge from rivals Manchester United, and the Blues have the option to sign the 24-year-old permanently at the end of the season for a fee of £23 million.
Sancho had fallen out of favour at Old Trafford after a disagreement with then-manager Erik ten Hag, and he was therefore sent on loan to former club Borussia Dortmund for the second-half of last season.
With Ten Hag still in charge upon his return over the summer, the winger was duly sent back out on loan, this time to Chelsea.
Since arriving in SW6 the England international has scored twice and provided three assists in ten Premier League matches, and appears to be getting closer to the fine form he displayed during his first stint in Germany with Dortmund.
Phillips claims that Chelsea will take up the option to sign Sancho permanently this summer and have already agreed terms with the player, who is said to be ‘on cloud nine’ since joining the club he supported as a youngster.
