Everton early team news ahead of the Premier League fixture against Chelsea at Goodison Park as the Toffees aim to pull off an upset against Enzo Maresca's side.
Everton have been put through their paces ahead of their first game under the ownership of The Friedkin Group (TFG).
The American firm completed their takeover of the Toffees yesterday as they were handed the keys from Farhad Moshiri. Representatives from TFG are expected to be in the Goodison Park stands when Chelsea visit on Sunday.
It's not exactly an easy start to the new era. Chelsea are second in the Premier League, having won their past eight matches in all competitions, and Everton face a tough test. Sean Dyche's side have lost only two of their previous 10 games, though, and will take confidence from holding Arsenal to a 0-0 draw last weekend.
The Blues have uploaded photos from training at Finch Farm ahead of the Chelsea game. There was good news as Jarrad Branthwaite, who appeared to be in some discomfort against Arsenal, was among the snaps.
However, Dwight McNeil could not be spotted. The forward was absent for the draw with the Gunners because of an ongoing knee issue. Meanwhile, James Garner (back) and Tim Iroegbunam (foot) are still not back in training and have been sidelined for three months. A timeframe on when the midfield pair could be back is still to be given.
Armando Broja was involved in the session but he cannot play against Chelsea. The striker is on loan from Stamford Bridge and is, therefore, ineligible. It means that Youssef Chermiti could be in the squad for the first time this season. The centre-forward suffered a freak injury in August and has been working his way back to full fitness since. Chermiti has made two appearances for the under-21s along with an outing in a behind-closed-doors game.
In addition, Stanley Mills is training with Everton. The versatile 21-year-old sustained a serious knee injury last January during a fruitful loan spell at Oxford United. Dyche will provide an update on Everton’s team news when he speaks at his pre-match press conference this afternoon.
