Southampton have endured a poor run in the Premier League this season, with five points from 16 games. The Saints are at the bottom of the table and parted ways with Russell Martin last weekend.
Three days ago, we covered claims from Italy which stated Ivan Jurić is a ‘hot’ candidate for Southampton.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now claims the 49-year-old is set to become the new Saints manager. The report’s title reads: ‘Southampton, agreement in definition with Ivan Jurić’.
He’s been without a club since AS Roma sacked him on November 10th, less than two months after joining them.
The Croatian still had a deal with the Serie A side and Di Marzio states he’s terminated it. The journalist adds the manager is negotiating to finalise the deal with Southampton.
TuttoMercatoWeb also have a report on the former Genoa manager and their title says ‘agreement closed with Southampton’.
Within the report, it’s claimed Jurić will sign a contract until the end of this season, with an option for another year. TMW adds all the details of the agreement have been defined and only the ‘white smoke is missing’.
If these two reports are to be true, it won’t be long for Southampton to make Jurić’s appointment official.
