Paqueta has just given David Sullivan a very easy decision to make after majorly ungrateful…

So Lucas Paqueta wants out of West Ham United it seems.

I say if it’s at all possible, let him go when the January transfer window opens.

Lucas Paqueta is not a £51 million player, and West Ham seriously overpaid when we signed him from Lyon in 2022.

His profligate nature when in possession of the football is obviously why no truly top clubs took a punt on him, and it’s why he failed at AC Milan.

The Brazilian’s off-field problems haven’t helped him at all either, and he apparently faces a lifetime ban if found guilty of the betting breach charges levelled against him.

Paqueta has produced moments of brilliance during his time at the London Stadium, but on the whole, he has been a liability more than a match-winner for us.

It has been claimed that Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui doesn’t actually trust Paqueta on the pitch.

And now his time at West Ham could be coming to an end it seems.

Lucas Paqueta has given David Sullivan very easy decision to make

Hammers co-owner David Sullivan faces a pivotal six weeks or so ahead of him,

He needs to back whoever is in charge at the London Stadium significantly in the January transfer window, but it seems like a high profile exit could be on the cards as well.

Goal in Brazil claim that Paqueta wants to quit West Ham and return to his homeland.

So let him go I say.

It’s a hugely ungrateful request from him in all fairness, considering how much the club have supported him throughout his trials and tribulations over the past 16 months.

West Ham director of football Tim Steidten flew out to Brazil in the summer to comfort Lucas Paqueta, and the club made it very clear that they had his back.

That obviously meant nothing to the 27-year-old though, with reports now claiming that he’s trying to force an exit from the London Stadium this winter.

Lucas Paqueta signing just hasn’t worked out at West Ham

Whilst the South American can be a brilliant technician on his day, I think we can all admit that signing him just hasn’t worked out in the way we originally hoped it would.

The 27-year-old is caught out in possession in dangerous areas far too often, and that puts unnecessary pressure on our backline.

His dallying on the ball away at Tottenham in October just before their equaliser was a prime example of this, and he did the same during our home defeat to Arsenal at the end of last month.

Now the West Ham owners need to cut their losses on Lucas Paqueta.

If David Sullivan is able to sell him for a nominal fee in January, or loan him out to a club with his wages paid in full, moving him on should be a no-brainer as far as I’m concerned.

The signing of Paqueta should be a big warning for West Ham going forward, regarding the type of characters we bring into the club.
