[Real Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com) and Leganés have finalized an agreement for the transfer of Lamini Fati, a promising young defender. The deal was concluded on Thursday afternoon.
Despite currently sidelined due to a jaw injury that required surgery, Fati’s transfer has been expedited. Real Madrid secured the left-footed centre-back for a reported fee of €120,000, with additional performance-related variables included in the agreement with Leganés. The club’s youth academy management prioritized reaching a mutual agreement with Leganés rather than triggering the player’s termination clause — something important to Real Madrid in order to maintain their strong relationship with Leganés.
Fati is eligible to play for Real Madrid’s youth team due to his age, and his initial assignment will be with Real Madrid C. However, his progression within the club will depend on his performance and the evolving needs of the team during the season.
From Friday, Fati will begin training at Valdebebas. However, fans who tune in to the youth games will need to wait until January to see him in action, as his debut aligns with the opening of the transfer market.
