Joe Cole stunned Chelsea were able to sign Marc Guiu
Jason Cundy described Guiu as ‘brilliant’ during the game, whilst Marc Cucurella said his compatriot was a ‘top player’.
Enzo Maresca admitted Guiu had been a bit unhappy of late, with him struggling for any form of first team minutes behind Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku.
Despite that, the signing of the Spaniard can only be seen as a shroud piece of business, and Joe Cole has been left stunned Chelsea could pull the deal off for so cheap.
He said to TNT Sports: “My thought with Marc Guiu is how have Barcelona let him go? This kid in two years’ time could be an established number nine – I think he can go all the way. I think Barcelona have made a mistake.”

Guiu could be loaned out
Given the fact Guiu has only featured in one Premier League game so far this season, his most likely avenue for regular minutes at this stage could be on loan from the club.
It has been claimed Maresca is open to the idea of Guiu leaving on loan, despite the fact that he was key in convincing the youngster to make the move to the club in the first place.
With an uncertain future at the moment for Nkunku, the youngster will be desperate to prove that he can make the upgrade to Jackson’s deputy, and that they do not need to sign a new name in the transfer window.
