Real Madrid will face Villarreal in the round of 16 of Copa de la Reina. The time has come to put the year 2024 to an end with the last match of the year being an eliminatory round in the Queen’s Cup.
There are 8 teams that enter the Copa de la Reina race in the round of 16. The top 8 teams that finished last season’s Liga F campaign only join in the round of 16, while the clubs of lower divisions, as well as the bottom half of the 2023/24 Liga F table, enter the race in earlier rounds. Villarreal beat SE AEM from Primera Federación on penalties in the previous round to reach the RO16 and are now awaiting Las Blancas on their home ground. Villarreal is a recently relegated team after coming last in last season’s Liga F campaign.
The yellow submarine has always caused problems for Las Blancas, including the quarter final match in 2022/23 Copa de la Reina when Villarreal drew out the encounter into the extra time after tying in the last minutes of regular time.
For the first time this season, Alberto Toril has a full squad with Rocío returning to the squad list. Kickoff is on Friday, December 20th, at 19:00 CET (1 pm ET) and will be broadcast on Teledeporte.
