Chelsea are second in the Premier League as things stand, but Enzo Maresca is keen to not get dragged into any title race chat.
Indeed, while some believe Chelsea are title contenders, the Blues’ manager and players are refusing to talk about winning the league.
That’s in spite of their current good position.
Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has been discussing Chelsea’s title chances, and he reckons that the Blues are one player away from being champions.
Indeed, Allardyce believes Chelsea need a proper goalscorer, claiming that if they had Erling Haaland, they would win the league.

Chelsea would win the league if they had Erling Haaland
Allardyce spoke about Chelsea’s title chances.
Big Sam reckons that the Blues aren’t clinical enough, stating that they would win the league if they had a striker like Erling Haaland.
Chelsea have been in the market for a new striker recently as Victor Osimhen has been linked with Chelsea.
“I mean Chelsea’s chances created to goals scored is really good, chances created, but goals scored could be better. If they had a pure finisher like Haaland they could win the league. I still think they’re slightly suspect defensively,” Allardyce said.
Erling Haaland compared to Nicolas Jackson
Every team in world football could do with a player like Erling Haaland, but to say that Chelsea’s attacking options aren’t up to scratch is slightly unfair.
Chelsea have scored more goals than any other team in the Premier League this season, and Nicolas Jackson isn’t too far away from Erling Haaland either.
Erling Haaland this season Nicolas Jackson this season
Games 16 15
Goals 13 9
Goals in last 10 games 3 5
Jackson’s nine goals this season is a very respectable tally, and that’s without taking penalties too.
If Jackson were on spot kick duties for the Blues, he would potentially be just one goal behind the £51m Man City star in the league this season as Chelsea have been given three penalties this term already.
Whether or not Chelsea can win the league remains to be seen, but if they do fall short in the title race, it’s not because of their lack of goalscoring ability.
Chelsea are the most potent attacking team in the league, and that could well carry them to the title.
