Everton have had another sticky season so far and currently find themselves in dangerous territory, sitting just three points clear of the relegation zone.
As a result of this, throughout the campaign, there have been plenty of conversations surrounding the future of Sean Dyche at the club as the Blues look to retain their top-flight status.
These aims will no doubt feel more achievable now following the completion of the Friedkin Group’s takeover at Goodison on Thursday [19 December].
However, there remains uncertainty over the direction in which the new owners will take the club and whether Dyche has the opportunity to take the club forward.
Speaking on talkSPORT [19 December, 16:17pm], Darren Bent suggested that the 53-year-old can only do a basic job as he said: “I never really fear they go down with Dyche in charge.

“But when you talk about the football that they’re playing and I’m guessing with the season tickets there, I don’t know what the situation is if they’ve frozen the prices or has it gone up whatever but going into a new stadium where you want to see some nice attacking football in a new arena, do you want to be watching this?
“Like going into a new stadium, do you want to be fighting relegation again is the question?
“But I think they’ve got better players in that squad that can play a better brand of football.”
Sean Dyche could take Everton forward
Although Bent is right when he says that there doesn’t feel like too much of a threat of relegation with Dyche at the helm, his comments also suggest that the 53-year-old is not capable of taking the team further than safety.
However, this feels like a harsh judgement on the English manager who has struggled at Goodison largely down to factors off the pitch that were out of his control. Within the circumstances, Dyche hasn’t done the worst job.
You can imagine TFG opting to keep their current boss to the end of the season as survival is the number one aim and then assessing where to go from there which could easily see the two part ways as they look to kickstart a new era.
However, Dyche should take the remainder of this season as a challenge to show people the level of manager he can be in the Premier League.

Darren Bent has delivered an Everton relegation verdict
The Toffees will be looking at bringing in reinforcements in the January transfer window which, if they get right, could boost their performances on the pitch.
Dyche knows how to conduct a side and has taken Burnley to a 10th-place finish in the Premier League previously showing he is not just a relegation manager.
Whether there is anything he can do to secure his future at Everton will be seen but if he is kept on, the 53-year-old should endeavour to prove people wrong and show he can be a long-term manager rather than just a relegation saviour.
