Timo Werner missed the Man Utd game through illness

Postecoglou was back in front of the media at Hotspur Way on Friday ahead of the fixture with both sides coming into the league tie with a win under their belt.

Tottenham Hotspur are looking to secure back-to-back wins in the Premier League for the first time since September when they defeated Brentford and followed up with a victory against Manchester United a week later. Coming into the game against Liverpool, Spurs are currently without at least six outfield players.

Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero both remain sidelined following the fresh injuries they sustained against Chelsea, while Mikey Moore, Wilson Odobert, Richarlison, and Guglielmo Vicario are not due to return until 2025.

Destiny Udogie was forced off before the half-hour mark in Tottenham’s 5-0 win against Southampton at St Mary’s on Sunday and failed to feature in the game against Manchester United, not even making the bench but looks set to feature this weekend.

Timo Werner also missed the game against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup due to an illness, while Rodrigo Bentancur is set to miss his final game of his seven-match ban over his comments on Heung-min Son.

On a more positive note, the boss recently revealed that Ben Davies could return before the New Year after his hamstring injury was not as bad as first feared.

Will Destiny Udogie play for Tottenham vs Liverpool?

Postecoglou told Football London: “Hopefully. We’ll see, the boys are coming in now. Timo was unwell yesterday but 48 hours before the game so hopefully he will recover. The plan is Destiny should be ok.”

When asked if Moore could feature, the Australian added: “We need to get a couple of weeks training into him and get him up to speed.”

Fraser Forster had a nervy night in front of goal against United leaving some fans wondering when Vicario could return, Postecoglou said: “Going well. Typical Vic as he’s pushing every boundary. He’s still a fair bit away but he’ll make sure he’s back as quickly as possible. He’s still around the group and invested in what we’re doing. He’s progressing well.”
