Real Madrid to meet with Liverpool star’s camp in January to discuss summer move

Following the season-ending ACL injury to Dani Carvajal, Real Madrid’s problems in the right-back position have been left exposed.

Lucas Vazquez, who has previously done a solid job of filling in for Carvajal, has been all over the place, struggling to deliver for the team.

As such, it has become clear that Real Madrid need to invest in a new right-back sooner rather than later to have someone ready to take over from the ageing Carvajal.

While a move in January appears to be ruled out, Los Blancos are looking for reinforcements in the position for the summer with Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold being the preferred option.

Juanlu Sanchez on the radars

Now, AS reports that Real Madrid have another player on their radars as a possible option to strengthen the right-back slot in the form of Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a regular in the first-team setup since last season and has continued to evolve in the ongoing campaign under new coach Garcia Pimienta.

Indeed, even though he is a right-back, Juanlu has played in central midfield, attacking midfield, and as a right-winger this season, displaying his adaptability and versatility.

The young Spaniard has made 14 appearances in all competitions for Sevilla, scoring three and assisting two goals in the process.

Juanlu’s development, potential, and versatile nature have impressed Real Madrid, who are interested in the 21-year-old, whose release clause has risen from €15 million to €25 million.

The right-back, who won the Olympics gold medal with Spain this year, is also attracting interest from Brighton & Hove Albion and has a contract with Sevilla until 2026.

What is certain is that Juanlu will remain with the Andalusian club until the end of the season. Beyond that, though, there is no guarantee, and it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid make a move.
