Chelsea have the chance to at least temporarily can go top of the league on Sunday when they take on Everton at Goodison Park.
The Blues will be in action before league leaders Liverpool this weekend, and have the chance to put the pressure on their rivals at the top of the table.
Enzo Maresca has been insistent that Chelsea are not title contenders this season, however their position in the table and results of late suggest that they certainly are.
The Blues are starting to deal with a number of injury problems towards the back end of 2024, with the boss only making one substitute against Brentford.

Romeo Lavia not fit for Chelsea vs Everton
One of the players who missed that game is Romeo Lavia, who has forced his way into the starting side whenever he has been fit.
This has at times seen Moises Caicedo shifted to right-back to fit everyone in, however it doesn’t look as if that will be necessary this weekend.
Maresca has confimed that it is likely going to be too soon for Lavia to return to action this weekend at Goodison Park.
He said to Football London: “Joao [Felix] is back, you saw Joao. Romeo [Lavia] probably will struggle to play Sunday. We will see. It depends. And then the rest are all clear.”

After featuring just once for the Blues in his debut season, things have gone a bit better for the young midfielder so far this season.
Jamie Carragher described Lavia as ‘brilliant’ earlier this season, with midfield certainly being a real strong area for Chelsea so far this season.
Lavia’s ability to recieve the ball from the defenders under pressure has been crucial to launching a nunber of Chelsea attacks, and it looks as if he is a perfect fit for what Maresca is looking for.
