While Chelsea’s season is going from strength to strength, the absence of Reece James due to injury continues to be the one real negative.
Chelsea captain Reece James, 25, has proven over the years what a top-class right-back he can be. Unfortunately, the Englishman’s just had no luck with frequent injuries for quite a while now.
James missed the first chunk of the 2024/25 campaign before working hard to come back. He then played four games for the Blues before picking up his latest hamstring injury.
It was recently claimed that Chelsea defender James is back on the grass doing individual training. There’s now been an official update from the Chelsea manager, too.

Enzo Maresca gives injury update on Reece James
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that James is returning to participate in some team training this week.
He’s not in contention to play in Sunday’s trip to Everton in the Premier League, but it’s certainly positive news that the full-back is reintegrating with the squad again.
“Reece finally tomorrow will start with us for part of the session, so slowly, slowly, he will be back. That doesn’t mean he is going to be with us on Sunday or next Sunday,” Maresca said via Football.London.
“Just tomorrow. The plan for him tomorrow is to be with the team for part of the session and from there to try to build the right condition for him and then finally he can be back with us.”

Is Reece James entering last chance saloon?
James has been a massive fan favourite ever since he made a first-team breakthrough at Chelsea from the academy. In 162 senior appearances, he’s delivered so many outstanding performances and also won the Champions League.
One Chelsea source claims James may be up for sale in the summer, something that would’ve seemed unimaginable a couple of years ago.
The reality is that the Blues skipper doesn’t play enough football because of so many injury interruptions.
