Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko could be set to leave RB Leizpig next summer. The 21-year-old was linked with a blockbuster move to north London at the start of the summer transfer window as Mikel Arteta tried to add a new centre forward to his squad.
However, Sesko decided to commit his long-term future to Leipzig and sign a five-year contract until the summer of 2029. But as part of his new deal, the Slovenia international has a gentleman's agreement that Leipzig will not stand in his way if a competitive offer comes in.
The exact fee that Leipzig demand is unclear but it's looking increasingly unlikely that Sesko will stay at the German club beyond the end of next summer's transfer window. But who could sign him? Well, The Athletic report that Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle are keeping tabs on the forward.
Manchester United were interested last summer but the signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna has lowered their need for a new striker. Despite this, Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle are still keen and tracking his situation ahead of a potential move at the end of the season.
Arteta could be keen to dip into the market for a new forward despite Gabriel Jesus' hat-trick against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. Kai Havertz has not been at his flying best of recent late and there is an argument to suggest that the Gunners are lacking a world-class No.9.
Liverpool, meanwhile, might feel the least need to sign a striker even if Darwin Nunez isn't the most clinical. They have Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo that can also play in that position, while Mohamed Salah is filling their goalscoring burden right now with 16 goals in 23 matches this season.
As for Newcastle, they have one of the best strikers in the division at their disposal. Alexander Isak is someone Arsenal have been looking at and if the Gunners can tempt the Swede to move to the Emirates, Sesko could be an ideal replacement, especially as he boasts similar attributes.
Speaking on his future back in October, Sesko told La Gazzetta dello Sport: "I don't comment on transfer rumours. I'm happy in Leipzig and that's why I recently extended my contract. I want to achieve even more great things here, Leipzig wants to grow a lot and I want to accompany the team on this very intriguing journey."
Sesko has scored 10 goals and added three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions this season. He netted the opening goal during Leipzig's 2-1 win over Frankfurt on Sunday.
