He joined the Dutch side in search of regular football away from Molineux, with it made clear in the summer that he was not a part of former manager Gary O’Neil’s plans for this season.
He’s looking to establish himself after a rapid rise in the last few years after joining Wolves’ youth setup from Areosa U19’s in July 2019.
He has since worked his way up the youth ranks at the club and made his Premier League debut for Wolves in October 2022 at 20 years and 27 days old.
A further 48 appearances have followed for the club, with 43 of his 49 so far coming in the Premier League, a big achievement for a player who was very much in obscurity in Spanish football before Wolves picked him up.
He still doesn’t quite understand how that happened, explaining that he thought the initial interest in him was a joke.
“I started around the age of six. In Spain we lived right next to a football field. From my house you literally had to cross one road and then you were on the field. That’s where I started,” he said.

“When I was told that a Premier League scout was coming to have a look, I couldn’t believe it. It could just as well have been a joke. It was a surprise to see a scout from such a big club at CD Areosa.
“When it turned out to be true, I thought about nothing but doing my very best. The scout was surprised that I wasn’t playing for a professional team. He was immediately charmed.”
