Steven Gerrard (120). Ryan Giggs (109). Ian Wright (113). Robbie Keane (126). These are just some of the iconic Premier League players whom Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has scored more goals than.

The seemingly ageless striker, now 38, will have the chance to pass players like Robin Van Persie (144) and Michael Owen (150) as he enters the Top 15 all-time Premier League highest scorers. Jamie Vardy currently has 142 Premier League goals.

Not only is Vardy an all-time great player who was a cornerstone of the most unlikely Premier League title of all time (Leicester City overcoming 5000-1 odds to win the title in 2016, but he’s infamously an all-time great character, too.

He sometimes skips training. He once played with six months with an ankle monitor on after being convicted for assaulting someone outside of a pub. His trash-talking, particularly to rival fans, is unparalleled.

Vardy’s commitment to trashtalking extends far beyond chirping the fans, however, as a recent piece by The Telegraph about Vardy’s ability to perform in the Premier League at the age of 38 years old revealed that the Leicester City legend has been known to learn insults in the native tongue of his opponents if order to insult them during the match.

“In preparing for matches, he has been known to teach himself choice insults in the native language of the centre-backs marking him. Earlier this season before a morning session, he amused himself by simply booting balls at the windows of Leicester’s vast training ground HQ.” [via *The Telegraph ]*

Taking time to learn insults in other languages is just another aspect of Vardy’s personality that’s made him a cult hero over the last decade. His matchday meal has become famous, for example: three Red Bulls, a ham and cheese omelette, and a double espresso. This is an elite professional athlete we’re talking about.

Vardy isn’t just all venom, however, as the piece adds that he’s also “usually the first to report for training at around 8:30 a.m.”

This season in the Premier League, Vardy has made 15 appearances and has scored 6 goals and dished out 3 assists. His goals lead the team and he’s second in assists behind midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
