Cesare Casadei is planning to leave Chelsea during the January transfer window amid interest from multiple top Serie A clubs.

The Italy U21 international is yet to make his first Premier League appearance of the season, while he has only been included in two matchday squads in the English top flight since the beginning of the 2024-25 campaign.

Casadei has featured in five of Chelsea’s six Europa Conference League fixtures, however Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that he is now looking to leave Stamford Bridge during the winter window.

Several Italian clubs are interested in landing the 21-year-old and sensational recent reports have even suggested that AC Milan are “close” to finalising an agreement to sign Casadei on loan.

A number of La Liga teams have also been linked with the Chelsea man, although it’s likely he would favour a move back to his homeland.

What has Enzo Maresca said?

Casadei is one of several Chelsea players who have been linked with an exit during the January transfer window, and Maresca has admitted that several departures could be arranged.

Ahead of their clash against Everton this weekend, the Blues boss told reporters: “There are players who unfortunately didn’t play a lot with us in all the competitions, like [Ben] Chilwell, like Carney [Chukwuemeka].

“They are probably the first who want to leave because they work every day, they train every day. They want to play games, and if they don’t play games probably they are thinking to leave.”

Maresca continued: “I think each player is in a different situation so we are going to see if any of them is coming to knock on the door and say: ‘I want to leave.’ We will try to find a solution. Personally I am not worried about the next three months, if the players are happy or not.

“All I can say is that we still have many games and if they do the right things and work properly they are all going to have chances to play.

“For instance next week we have three games and the FA Cup will start in January. We try to pick the right ones for each game, and then we’ll see.”
