Lazio could turn their attention to Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei who might prove to be their most affordable choice in mid-season.
Fresh Midfield Woes
The Biancocelesti were already in the market for a new midfielder, which has now become a more urgent need with Matias Vecino suffering a relapse that could rule out of action for a couple of months. Moreover, the future of Gaetano Castrovilli remains unclear due to his constant physical problems and the question marks over his ability to play in the double pivot.
The Lazio Shortlist
La Gazzetta dello Sport sheds some light on the club’s various options ahead of the January transfer market. Lazio will be looking to sign a player under the age of 22 due to the lack of room on the senior squad list. 20-year-old Reda Belahyane remains one of the most obvious choices following his breakthrough at Hellas Verona, while Monza’s Warren Bondo, Reims’ Valentin Atangana and Lauzanne’s Alvyn Sanches represent some of the alternative options.
Cesare Casadei Available on Loan
But as the pink newspaper explains, Casadei could be the most feasible solution, as Chelsea are reportedly willing to send him out on loan. The 21-year-old was considered one of the most talented young midfielders in his generation, especially during his time with Inter Milan’s youth ranks, but he has been struggling from the fierce competition for places in the ultra-packed Chelsea squad.
Michael Folorunsho Still an Option
Casadei has yet to make an appearance in the Premier League this season, but has made six appearances between the Conference League and the Carabao Cup. The source also mentions Napoli’s Michael Folorunsho as another possibility. While he’s 27, the Italy international is a Lazio youth product, so the Aquile would be able to register him in the squad without making any additional omissions.
