Recent results have hardly looked good for FC Barcelona and the team looks disjointed. Unfortunately for the Catalan giants, that issue was even further boosted by Hansi Flick’s untimely suspension. To make matters even worse, Barcelona must now face one of Europe’s most in-form teams.
At the Montjuic Stadium, Hansi Flick’s team is set to play against Atletico Madrid in their upcoming La Liga fixture. For context, Diego Simeone’s side is currently on a hot winning streak that could end up becoming ahistoric one for them if Barcelona is unable to put an end to it.
However, if there was ever a time for change or innovation, now would be good. According to Mundo Deportivo, that is exactly what the Barcelona coach has in mind as he is reportedly considering the options he has to change up his typical line-up for the upcoming game.
It has been quite clear to see that the current system is not working in recent games. Moreover, with Lamine Yamal injured as well, it becomes even more difficult to find a like-for-like replacement. Instead, the Barcelona coach is considering making some changes in the attack.
Over in the central attacking midfield position, Flick is considering the possibility of dropping Dani Olmo and starting Gavi instead. In recent games, Olmo has failed to establish himself as too much of a threat and has been far too inconsistent in the impact he has on games.
Gavi, on the other hand, has been impressive in the cameos that he has made. Thus, the Spaniard could end up being the player that Flick puts into the starting eleven. However, the other big rotation that Hansi Flick is considering is that of Fermin Lopez.
With Yamal injured, the German coach needs a player who can take over the left side of the attack. It is expected that Raphinha will take over on the right, a more natural fit for him, and Lopez could end up being the player that starts against Atletico Madrid out wide on the opposite side.
