Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has sent his best wishes to former teammate and Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon after their reunion on Thursday night.
Reguilon spent the first half of last season on loan at United as they searched for cover after injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. In January, United chose to cancel the loan believing that Shaw would be back for the remainder of the campaign.
Unfortunately, that was not the case. In the meantime, Spurs shipped Reguilon out on loan to Brentford for the remainder of the season.
This campaign, Reguilon has not moved out on loan and has instead been left out of the Tottenham squad entirely. It had been claimed that the Spaniard was ostracised from the first-team but in recent weeks, the 28-year-old has been included as an unused substitute.
On Thursday night, Reguilon was handed a brief cameo by his manager Ange Postecoglou against his old team. Taking to Instagram on Friday, the defender seemed to be airing his frustrations at a lack of minutes.
Accompanying a series of pictures from the game, Reguilon posted: "Look mum, I played a football game yesterday." It seems clear now that the defender would welcome a club, perhaps even United given their need for further cover at left-back, approaching Spurs for a transfer in January.
One man who would welcome that development is Garnacho. In a separate post on his Instagram story, he shared a photo of himself and Reguilon catching up on the sidelines with the caption: "Nice to see you little brother."
Responding to the post, Reguilon added: "All the best my friend and all the best Manchester United." Amorim is keen to add a left-sided player to his squad sooner rather than later with Shaw out injured again and Malacia only just coming back from a long-term injury layoff.
