Report shares one condition Euro club have for transfer of Everton ace

Everton Dominic Calvert-Lewin

AC Milan are only interested in making a move for Everton talisman Dominic Calvert-Lewin if they can get him on a free transfer next summer, according to Rudy Galetti.

The journalist reported via the TEAMtalk website (19 December) that the interest shown by the Rossoneri, which first surfaced during the summer transfer window was true [Daily Mail, 23 June].

Even though Everton would like to extend the Englishman’s Goodison Park stay, at the moment, there hasn’t been a breakthrough in talks and due to the recent interest surrounding the Toffees’ talisman, nothing is yet set in stone.

Everton cannot allow Dominic Calvert-Lewin to exit Goodison Park for free

As Calvert-Lewin’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 season, foreign clubs will be able to approach the striker without having to pay a fee to Everton in the upcoming January window.

Clubs in England will have to wait until the summer to enter talks with him but with European teams such as Juventus and AC Milan showing an interest in acquiring his services recently, it’s unlikely that the Englishman is going to be short of suitors.

If he does exit Goodison Park, Dyche and Kevin Thelwell should look to scrape together what they can for him in January so that they can fund or at least partially fund the arrival of a replacement.

Indeed, Calvert-Lewin hasn’t been in the best form of his life this season but when the injury history of Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti is taken into account, it feels like Dyche would be committing treason to allow the former Sheffield United man to leave for nothing.
