Centre-back has reached a ‘point of no return’

The player in question is Milan Skriniar, who has fallen down Luis Enrique’s pecking order this season. In fact, in a new report in Gazzetta dello Sport, it is revealed that the PSG boss ‘doesn’t consider him compatible’ with his preferred style of play.

It is said that Enrique’s decision to not even name the Slovakian in the matchday squad for the clash against Lyon was the final nail in the coffin for the defender, who has now reached ‘a point of no return’ in Paris.

The former Inter Milan man reportedly considers this decision ‘a humiliation’ and has made up his mind to leave the club.

Spurs ready to offer Milan Skriniar an exit route

Gazzetta goes on to suggest that the January market ‘will be decisive’ in finding a new home for the centre-back, with the player’s entourage wanting to facilitate a move to a top club who can take on his salary.

It is explained that a return to Italy is on the cards as is a move to La Liga or Premier League, with Tottenham now emerging as a ‘plausible destination’ for Skriniar.

The report goes on to add that the likes of Napoli and Atletico Madrid are fans of the 29-year-old, but a move to Spurs seems ‘more credible’ at the moment.

Skriniar would not be a good fit for Spurs

It would have made complete sense for Tottenham to pursue Skriniar when Antonio Conte was in charge as the PSG man would have been ideal for the Italian’s system.

However, the Slovak international does not have the attributes to defend in a high line, nor does he have the required technical quality on the ball to play out from the back in the way Ange Postecoglou demands.
