Newcastle United booked a place in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup after beating Brentford 3-1 at St James Park.
The Magpies produced an excellent display in front of their home crowd, with Sandro Tonali their standout performer.
The Italy international bagged their first two goals before Fabian Schar added another in the 69th minute, with Newcastle sealing a comfortable 3-1 success in the end.
Eddie Howe’s side will look to continue their momentum when they face Ipswich Town at Portman Road in Saturday’s Premier League meeting.
Predicted Newcastle United XI vs Ipswich Town
With Nick Pope out for a month, Martin Dubravka will keep operating between the sticks this weekend.
In front of the goalkeeper, Howe will likely feature the same backline that played last time against Bretnford. Tino Livramento’s consistent performances mean there is no place for the experienced Kieran Trippier in the team. The centre-back duo of Schar and Dan Burn will remain unchanged, with Lewis Hall keep his spot on the left wing.
Howe will be forced to make a change in midfield, with Joelinton suspended after picking the fifth yellow card of the season. In the 28-year-old’s absence, Joe Willock, who completed a permanent move to the club for £25 million in 2021, should get the nod to operate alongside Sandro Tonali and Guimaraes in the middle of the park.
Isak has been enjoying a rich vein of form in recent months, scoring six goals in his previous eight Premier League games. He is expected to spearhead the attack once again, with Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon operating as the wide forwards.
Predicted Newcastle United XI vs Ipswich Town:
Dubravka; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Willock; Murphy, Gordon, Isak
