Weston McKennie has made a significant return to form with Juventus, having played in various positions throughout his tenure at the club. Recently transformed into a left-back by coach Thiago Motta, McKennie took part in a charitable initiative at the Oratorio San Paolo in Turin, organized through his foundation, “McKennie’s Magical Youth Mission.” During the event, he [**shared his thoughts**](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/mckennie-mi-dicevano-che-la-juventus-era-troppo-grande-per-me-vo-69773) with the media.
Expressing his joy about the event, McKennie stated, “I am really happy to be here. Back home in Texas, I have a nephew who is growing up without a father. I have been like an idol for him, and I always enjoy helping children. This is also the goal of my foundation. For me, it is a special day; as I have said before, I really love helping children or elderly people.”
When discussing his role on the pitch, McKennie emphasized that his primary focus is simply to contribute to the team. “It doesn’t change anything; the important thing is to play. I could even play in goal. Last year with Allegri, I started as a right-back or as a midfielder. The key is to help the team. It’s easy for me to help because I have played in all positions during my career.”
Reflecting on his journey, McKennie recalled the skepticism he faced early in his career. “Throughout my career, even as a child, many people did not believe in me. When I started here at Juventus, they told me that Juve was too big for me and that I would never play. I like this because it motivates me to do everything possible to change their minds.”
Regarding his future at Juventus, McKennie expressed contentment with both the club and the city of Turin. “I feel good here at Juve; I also like the city. I get along well with the team and staff. I’ve been here for four years and want to stay as long as possible, but it depends on the club. Have we started talking about a contract renewal? I don’t know…” he joked. McKennie signed a contract extension in summer 2024 that keeps him with Juventus until June 30, 2026.
McKennie also addressed the team’s performance, stating that there is always room for improvement even in victory. “You can always do more even when you win. We need to maintain our level consistently. There are many injuries and players frequently playing. But we are Juventus, and it’s normal that we must strive to win.”
