Newcastle United have improved in front of goal after a shaky start.
Newcastle’s woes in front of goal married up with a relatively underwhelming start to the season. After 16 games, Eddie Howe’s side have found themselves in 12th place.
Newcastle’s win against Leicester on Saturday followed by their win in the Carabao Cup against Brentford on Wednesday has lifted the mood on Tyneside with the hopes that they can now kick on and work towards a return to European football.
A sign that things just weren’t the same as last season is that Newcastle have the lowest number of different goalscorers in the Premier League this season.
Things have gotten better however with the Magpies scoring 13 goals in their last five games, a sign that Newcastle’s high scoring prowess could be on its way back.
There’s one player in particular who has impressed in recent weeks and fans will love what he does in this video.

On Thursday, Newcastle released the second annual ‘Big Dan Burn’s Big Christmas Quiz’ with the 32-year-old hosting a series of quiz rounds with Sean Longstaff and Jacob Murphy.
Both players had buzzers to call their answers but could record a custom message to use. Longstaff went for ‘What’s going on here?!’ while Murphy decided to recreate a moment that has gone down in Newcastle folklore.

The 29-year-old made his buzzer say ‘Just put it in the net!’ a nod to the classic line from Newcastle commentator and former player John Anderson when Murphy missed a sitter to win a game against Watford in 2021.
It’s clearly something the Newcastle camp looks back on with good spirits as Longstaff and Burn both burst out laughing after Murphy says the line.
Jacob Murphy’s performances at Newcastle United of late
While Newcastle continue their search for a right winger, Murphy has been taking the reigns in that position and has been doing a fine job at scoring the goals.
He scored a brace in Newcastle’s win against Leicester on Saturday and looked lively in Wednesday’s game against Brentford, hitting the post in the first half.
Whilst the contributions have been there, fans haven’t been too impressed with him on the whole.
While Newcastle could move Miguel Almiron on, Murphy is set to remain an important player for Howe as they enter the second half of the season.
