Arsenal picked up a 3-2 win over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup in midweek and these two sides will face each other once again, this time in the Premier League.
The Gunners are playing catchup with Liverpool who are six points ahead of them and every game for Arsenal will feel like a final for Mikel Arteta. The Gunners are undefeated in their previous six Premier League matches while they have won their last five matches against the Eagles.
And with the kind of form they are in right now, we are expecting an easy and straightforward win for the North London side. Oliver Glasner’s side have shown sparks of brilliance this season and their playing style could cause a few issues for Arsenal. However, no matter how the 90 minutes pan out, we expect Arteta’s side to emerge as the winners.
Arsenal’s team news and injuries:
Mikel Arteta had been losing sleep over the fitness of Declan Rice but the midfielder is fit and will be available for selection on Saturday. Along with the England international, Ricardo Calafiori is also back to full fitness.
The manager has also confirmed in his pre-match press conference, that Zinchenko is close to being match-fit. If the left-back is not fully ready then Lewis-Skelly will play in that position with Jurrien Timber slotting in at right-back.
Declan Rice will come back into the starting lineup and replace Mikel Merino. Jorginho played against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup win but the Italian will go back to the bench, making way for Thomas Partey.
Gabriel Jesus scored a hat-trick in midweek and Mikel Arteta was all praise of him in his press conference.
The Arsenal boss said: “Yes, he’s been looking really good since he came back from pre-season after he had a setback and he started to play. He had some good performances without scoring. Obviously what he did the other day is exactly what we need from our nines.”
However, despite all these nice words the forward will start on the bench because Kai Havertz will definitely lead the line at Selhurst Park. Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka both got some much-deserved rest and will return to their familiar roles at the weekend.
