Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has declined to comment on rumours linking the Gunners with a potential move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford during the January transfer window.
The 27-year-old Rashford ignited speculation about his future in an interview with Henry Winter earlier this week, expressing his desire for a “new challenge” away from Old Trafford.
“When I leave, it’s going to be, ‘no hard feelings.’ You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person,” Rashford said. “If I know that a situation is already bad, I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past, and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I’ll make a statement, and it will be from me.”

Bookmakers currently rank Arsenal as third favourites to secure Rashford’s signature, behind Paris Saint-Germain and the Saudi Pro League. However, speaking at his press conference on Friday, Arteta refused to engage in the speculation.
When asked if he believes he could help revitalise Rashford’s career at Arsenal, Arteta responded, “No, and you know that I’m not going to talk about players from other clubs.”

Despite the manager’s reticence, reports suggest that Arteta remains a keen admirer of the England international. Allegations surfaced last summer that Arteta held informal discussions with Rashford regarding a possible move to the Emirates Stadium.

Rashford, who signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United last summer worth over £300,000 per week, has struggled this season. With four years remaining on his deal, Rashford’s future at Old Trafford appears increasingly uncertain as both club and player seek clarity.
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes a switch to the Emirates could rejuvenate Rashford’s career. Comparing his potential impact to that of Kai Havertz, who has found form under Arteta after a challenging spell at Chelsea, Petit expressed confidence in Rashford’s ability to thrive in a fresh environment.
“I know Kai Havertz has improved massively at Arsenal, but it’s difficult to say whether Arteta could do the same with Rashford if he moved to the club,” Petit said on behalf of BoyleSports. “However, I have no doubt that Rashford needs a new start, and I think Arsenal could be perfect for him.
“We all know the quality Rashford has shown over the years at Man United, but he looks miserable there. At Arsenal, in a positive environment, I think he could be incredible. Would Rashford be good at Arsenal? Give me the paper, and let me sign it for him right now!”
