Arsenal will be attentive in the transfer market in January, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano. The Gunners strengthened their squad over the summer, bringing in Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna and Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

The north London side also signed Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea, while Neto joined on a temporary move from Bournemouth. Third on the points table, Mikel Arteta's team are trailing in the Premier League title race and could be tempted to turn to the market in the winter for reinforcements.

However, in his column for GiveMeSport, Romano insisted that Arsenal do not have any concrete targets for January at the moment.

"Arsenal will be attentive on the market in January, but I can guarantee that as of today, there are no concrete targets already decided or talks ongoing," Romano wrote.

The Gunners could look for a new No. 9 in the January transfer window. Gabriel Jesus has been a disappointment so far, although he has shown signs of revival of late.

The Brazilian scored a hattrick in the 3-2 win over Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday (December 18). However, he has yet to find the back of the net in 18 games in the Premier League and the Champions League.

Recent reports have suggested that Manchester United's Marcus Rashford is on the north London side's agenda for January. However, journalist Sami Mokbel has since refuted those claims.

Arsenal face Crystal Palace for the second time in four days on Saturday (December 21) in the Premier League. The Gunners narrowly missed out on the Premier League title last season, finishing second behind Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta's team were expected to bridge the gap between them and the Cityzens this season. They are three points ahead of fifth-placed City after 16 games.

However, the north London side are six points behind current leaders Liverpool, who also have a game in hand. Arsenal have scored 29 goals from 16 games in the league so far, winning eight and losing just two.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have also been impressive in the Champions League this season. They are third on the league table after six games, with four wins and one defeat to their name.

Arteta's team have scored 11 goals and conceded just twice in Europe this season. They are now expected to secure automatic qualification to the knockout stages.
