Euro club eye move to sign £100k-per-week Everton star in January - report

Serie A club Fiorentina are interested in signing Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the January transfer window.

The Toffees have 13 players who will be out of contract at the end of the season, and Calvert-Lewin is one of them.

The 27-year-old will be available to hold talks over a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in January.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Viola could be tempted to make a move for the £100k-per-week Toffees striker.

Newcastle United made several attempts to sign Calvert-Lewin in the summer window, but they couldn’t reach an agreement.

Should Everton sell Calvert-Lewin in the January window?

Sean Dyche has said earlier that he doesn’t want to lose any of his players in January to jeopardise their Premier League status.

With the new owners in place, Everton could be in a stronger position to lose the England striker for free next summer.

Calvert-Lewin has struggled in front of goal so far this season, scoring just twice in 15 Premier League games.

He is a vastly experienced striker, and there won’t be any shortage of admirers for him if he wants to leave for free next summer.

Back in October, talkSPORT reported that Newcastle could look to reignite their interest in Calvert-Lewin, and they might do sofollowing Callum Wilson’s latest injury.

West Ham United and Arsenal could also move for him, either in January or next summer.

Calvert-Lewin has been at Goodison Park since 2016, and he has made over 260 appearances for the Toffees, scoring 70 goals.

In the last few years, his career has been plagued by serious injuries, but he did manage to score eight goals last season.

He is a key player under Dyche, but it looks unlikely that he would be given a new deal, based on his performances this season.

Everton would rather lose him for free next summer than sell him in January. But his potential exit next month cannot be completely ruled out.
