Former Manchester United star Jaap Stam has picked Cole Palmer over Mohamed Salah as the standout player in the Premier League.
Palmer has been nothing short of a revelation since joining the Blues from Manchester City in the summer of 2023 for £42.5m.
The 22-year-old took the Premier League by storm and was named Young Player of the Year after scoring 22 goals and providing 11 assists in his breakout campaign.
Staam picks Palmer over Salah as stand out player in the Premier League
Palmer has picked up where he left off last season at the start of this campaign and has 11 goals and six assists in 16 league games, including an audacious Panenka penalty against Tottenham.
Enzo Maresca stated how he’s very proud to be working with Palmer and it feels like the attacker is going from strength to strength.
The game seems to come to Palmer so naturally and it almost feels like he doesn’t realise how good he actually is.

The fact Palmer has got himself into the conversation about who the best player in the Premier League is just shows how much of an impact he’s made.
Stam picked Palmer over Salah as the standout player in the league and believes he is actually very different to the Egypt international.
“Cole Palmer is very impressive and so is Mohamed Salah,” he told Sports Lens as cited on X.com.
“Palmer is very different because he doesn’t have the experience that Salah has when it comes to handling the opposition, but being so important for Chelsea so quickly and being so confident is amazing.

“He is calm on the ball and creative but still a huge goal threat, he is using his strengths to help their other players and for me, definitely the most influential player at this moment in the Premier League.”
Palmer is certainly right up there but Salah is having an outstanding season for Liverpool and is arguably one of the best players to ever play in the Premier League, and just to be mentioned in these conversations is testament to the former City and his incredible rise in the game.
