West Ham are not obligated to make Carlos Soler’s loan move from PSG permanent at the end of the season, according to Sean Whetstone.

The insider, reporting via his personal X account (21 December), revealed that a top source at the London Stadium has told him the Irons have a £25million buy option instead.

This comes after it emerged that the East London outfit have opened discussions over buying Soler in recent days, with Le Parisien quoting a £16.6m purchase option.

Carlos Soler growing in stature for West Ham at London Stadium

Soler joined the Hammers on a season-long loan in the summer after going in and out of the PSG lineup last term.

The Spain international was mostly restricted to appearances off the bench in his first several weeks at the London Stadium, but has started in each of Irons’ last five Premier League games.

Having helped West Ham win two and draw one of those matches, the 27-year-old is evidently growing in stature in Julen Lopetegui’s squad.

Therefore, it is not a surprise that Tim Steidten and co are prepared to hold talks over making the midfielder’s loan deal permanent.

The £25m sum is significantly higher than the previously quoted fee, while PSG spent only £14.9m to sign him from Valencia two years ago.

Nevertheless, it still offers great value for a player, who is in his prime.

It, though, remains to be seen if Steidten is hopeful of negotiating a lower fee with PSG.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have been named as suitors for this Serie A star ahead of the January transfer window.
