Celtic’s interest in Kieran Tierney has become a hot topic over recent days as the possibility of a reunion between the defender and Brendan Rodgers has left fans salivating.
The Bhoys are approaching the January transfer window, and movement is expected in both directions at Parkhead to streamline the squad for the second half of the campaign.
Earlier this week, news emerged that Celtic are targeting Kieran Tierney after Arsenal opted not to activate his one-year contract extension clause, leaving the Scotland international set to become a free agent next summer.

According to reports, the Bhoys are exploring pre-contract and loan options for Tierney, but it remains to be seen if interest will arise from elsewhere in the 27-year-old.
Ahead of the weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Mikel Arteta has downplayed the situation, claiming the Lennoxtown graduate is fully committed to Arsenal at this moment in time, which is standard procedure before the window opens.
Now, Chris Sutton has offered his thoughts on the story that just doesn’t seem to be evading the attention of anyone in Celtic circles at the moment.
Chris Sutton has his say on potential Kieran Tierney Celtic move
Writing in his column for The Daily Record, Sutton believes Celtic would be landing a real coup by convincing Tierney to make the move, but believes finances could be a potential stumbling block.
He stated: “There’s already talk of Kieran Tierney coming back. I can understand the excitement among fans. It would be a real feather in the cap if they can persuade him to return.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
“Tierney is a quality player – if he’s fully fit. That’s the big question after the last few years. I also have other reasons to be sceptical over the move. Finances for one. I can’t say I know him that well but it doesn’t seem that he is overly money orientated.
“That could be good news for Celtic. But there is absolutely no doubt there will be interest in him from clubs in England and abroad – and figures that can blow Celtic out of the water.
“It might become a heart over head job at that point for the player but if you were advising him, would another two or three year deal on big money somewhere not make more sense than taking a substantial pay cut now? Only he can answer that one.”
Kieran Tierney return chatter unlikely to subside
With Celtic’s interest in Tierney feeling like there is some mileage this time around, it will be intriguing to see if further developments occur over the coming weeks as his situation continues to change.
On the same token, Greg Taylor is out of contract at the end of the season, which may be the catalyst for movement in the left-back position.
Only the club know the answer to what could potentially unfold, but supporters won’t waste any time in trying to paint a clearer picture as the January transfer window approaches.
