Bruno Guimaraes has bought into the project at Newcastle United.
When Guimaraes signed from Lyon in 2022 you could tell Newcastle boss Eddie Howe had something special with him.
Now, over 100 Premier League appearances and a cup final later the Brazilian is Newcastle’s captain who is keen to lead them back to European football after narrowly missing out last season.
Guimaraes has linked up well with Sandro Tonali this season with the pair forming a strong partnership, especially in Newcastle’s 4-0 win against Leicester.
The pair will be on the pitch again as the Magpies take on Ipswich on Saturday. But recent words from Guimaraes show the true extent of what being a Newcastle player means to him.

Bruno Guimaraes’ passionate words on Newcastle fans and the city
In an interview by Andy Sixsmith with Guimaraes where he was presented with a Premier League 100 club chip the 27-year-old was asked about what Newcastle as a club and a city meant to him.
“We are Geordie now. This is the place I feel like home in. I think I have a new home outside of Brazil,” he said.
“I want my sons to know exactly what I’m doing here to make a special connection for them because the connection I have with this place is unbelievable.

Guimaraes’ two children were born in Newcastle so they will always have a part of the city with them wherever they go.
Guimaraes’ recent Instagram post put his love for Newcastle on show reflecting on the Magpies win against Brentford but revealing his frustration about being booked and having to miss the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal.
Could Bruno Guimaraes leave Newcastle United?
Despite all the messages and words, there has been speculation regarding Guimaraes’ Newcastle future.
Guimaraes’ contract had a £100m release clause that only the top clubs could afford. There was interest from PSG and it was revealed that Manchester City made an enquiry over a potential £70m move for Guimaraes which was swiftly knocked back.
Recent reports have suggested that Newcastle won’t consider selling Guimaraes in January despite their need to sell.
Howe’s preference will be to sell more longstanding players with less time on their contracts.
