Nottingham Forest fans have had a lot to shout about this season already, with their side sitting firmly in the mix for European qualification.
Forest’s win over Aston Villa saw Nuno Espirito Santo’s side break into the Premier League’s top four positions, much to the delight of fans at the City Ground.
What is most remarkable about Forest’s run this season is that it came as a complete surprise to even the most high-profile pundits.
Gary Neville mocked Jamie Carragher for his Forest prediction after the former Liverpool man had Forest to be relegated, whilst Gary Lineker made a U-turn on Forest due to his relegation prediction.
Forest cannot afford to be complacent, though, especially given the opportunity to potentially improve the Forest squad during the January transfer window.
It seems as if this won’t be an opportunity that Evangelos Marinakis misses, according to the latest update from transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio Romano expects a busy January for Nottingham Forest
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Romano was far from subtle with his prediction on Forest’s January window, which is perhaps not surprising given Marinakis’ usually high activity in the market.

Romano said: “They love the transfer window at Forest! So yes, I expect them to do something as the Marinakis family loves to do.”
However, the journalist did admit that Forest fans should not expect to hear about any done deals in the buildup to January, with no signings in the works just yet,
He said: “Usually, they move in the final days of the market when opportunities appear. Nothing is really concrete or close now.”
One opportunity may be a return to a target from the summer window, as Santiago Gimenez has been made available. Whether it’s Giminez or another option, Forest’s stats this season show that Espirito Santo could do with another option up front.
Stats hint at potential Nottingham Forest weak point
Chris Wood is in talks for a new Forest contract as a result of his fine form this campaign. Without his clinical abilities, though, Forest may be experiencing a vastly different season.
In the Premier League, Forest currently sit 13th for goals per match with 1.3, whilst also sitting in the same position for shots on target per match with only 4.6.
These stats combined have Forest 15th in the xG table with 20.3 expected goals, alongside placing 14th in the big chances leaderboard with only 34 created this season so far.
Whilst these stats further highlight the clinical edge of Wood, they also emphasise how difficult Forest may find it to score goals if Wood’s form dipped.
Therefore, Espirito Santo and his Forest coaching staff may need to look for a forward who can provide more volume in terms of shots on target, to compliment the more methodical approach of Wood.
