Aston Villa v Manchester City: Gut Feelings

Manchester City travel to Villa Park looking for only their second win in 12 matches. The Blues are in a dismal run that is reminiscent of the 90s, when Typical City was in its heyday.

Victory for the Blues will see them return to a Champions League place but defeat will see them drop to sixth at least, with Bournemouth, Fulham and Brighton snapping at their heels.

As usual, our team are here to give us their views and opinions on the match and hopefully, today will be the start of an unbeaten run that will take them to a fifth successive Premier League title. “it’s Christmas and a time for miracles” - Hans Gruber, Nakatomi Tower, 1988.

They have to win at some point right? RIGHT? City steal a 2-1 gritty win and hopefully begin the run here.

Villa 1-2 City

Thomas

City continue to attempt to break out of their roughest patch in many years. A trip to Villa Park may not be the thing for it. The Villains aren’t world-beaters, but, let’s face it, neither are City. A break from mid-week games should give Pep’s side a refresh, but not enough, I’m afraid, for this one.

Villa 2-1 City

Dillon

With Dias out, it’s going to be a disaster.

Villa 3-1 Manchester City

Will

My gut feelings on this one are that it’s going to get a bit messy.

Villa are recovering their form whilst it gets worse and worse for City, who without Ruben Dias are weakened even further at the back.

I hate to have to do it, but I’m going to have to predict a City loss.

Aston Villa 2-0 City

Pete

Villa Park used to be a happy hunting ground for City but we lost there last year and there’s not much hope of coming away with three points this year. I don’t care about that and I’m going for a narrow win. And a clean sheet (I haven’t had coffee and not thinking straight).

Villa 0-1 City

Last Time Out

Death, Taxes and a United penalty against us. That was the story last weekend against the Stretford Rangers and no one predicted a defeat. Saul got the right goal difference and was the only one to pick up any points.

Here’s the table:
