Sandro Tonali is in fine form for Newcastle United.
The Italian has placed out of his skin in recent weeks with signs that his fitness and sharpness are back to their best after Tonali spent 10 months out through suspension.
It has been a long road to recovery for the 24-year-old who made his return in Newcastle’s Carabao Cup win against Nottingham Forest in August but his return is a delight to Toon boss Eddie Howe who has his best midfield back with Tonali linking up with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.
Something that will please Howe is the extent lengths the team will go to help and support each other. Guimaraes loves to comment on Instagram posts and applaud his teammates on and off the pitch.
However, it was a move by the whole team in Newcastle’s win against Brentford that fans didn’t see until Friday that caught the eye of many.

Video shows Newcastle United players chanting for Sandro Tonali in Brentford win
Sandro Tonali was on fire in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final bagging a brace in the first half. He could’ve scored a third if it wasn’t for a neat block from a Brentford defender much to the dismay of Anthony Gordon who watched behind the goal.
In a match cam video on Newcastle’s YouTube channel, fans can see another angle of Tonali’s second goal.
During the celebrations, Joelinton makes his way to the huddle and starts chanting the Italian’s name, the chants spread around the group with players like Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak all jumping along and chanting his name.

The video proceeds to show Tonali high-fiving Guimaraes and Gordon before he riles the crowd up by thrusting his arms in the air.
Those chants can be seen as a reflection of how good the atmosphere around the club is at the moment despite a shaky start to the season. The Magpies want to take their good run of form and the high morale into Saturday’s game against Ipswich.
Sandro Tonali should feel at home in Newcastle despite exit rumours
Since Tonali signed from AC Milan in 2023 fans and pundits have speculated that the Italian wasn’t happy on Tyneside and a move back to Italy could be on the cards.
Recent reports have linked an ‘unhappy’ Tonali with a move to Juventus in January but it is thought a deal wouldn’t help solve Newcastle’s PSR problems and the Serie A side wouldn’t be able to afford the move.
Tonali’s agent rubbished talks of an exit suggesting that the 24-year-old was happy at Newcastle and he wouldn’t be going anywhere. Based on what fans have seen on the pitch over the last week it looks like Tonali is nicely settled in despite the shaky start.
