It seems January [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) rumours are already heating up for **West Ham**, with reports linking the Hammers to Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson. Like many other Hammers fans, I can’t help but feel sceptical about these claims – especially when it comes to Rashford.
West Ham are ridiculously crap at signing strikers and it’s hard to see the club forking out more big money this season.
Spending £40 million on Rashford would be a massive gamble. Sure, he’s got/had talent, but his form has been inconsistent for longer than I can reacal. Add to that his focus on social media, UFC & boxing events, and red-carpet premieres, and you start to wonder where his priorities lie. Frankly, it’s hard to see how he fits into a Hammers team who are trying to weed out bad elements. Thankfully, reports suggest West Ham are not seriously interested in him, which is a relief.
Evan Ferguson, however, is a different story. In yesterdays video Gonzo likened him to the clubs pursuit of Dean Ashton and one does wonder if we’ve spent too long pursuing the finished article in recent years.
At just 20, the Brighton striker is a rising star with immense potential. Yes, his reported £60 million price tag is steep, but Ferguson represents long-term value for money. His ability to score goals and his hunger for improvement make him far more of an attractive proposition than Rashford.
