We have seen in the past that Hamza Choudhury has waved the flag of Bangladesh. Choudhury is of Bangladeshi and Grenadian ancestry. This week he decided national allegiance to Bangladesh.

His chances in the first team this season has been very limited, making his first Premier League start in the 0-4 outing vs. Newcastle. He was pulled off after 59 minutes, not really looking as a player ready for this type of action, and of course not to blame as he has not been prepared for this type of challenge.

Hamza Choudhury will be a massive player for this nation, as all of his future team mates in the national team do play in the home league of Bangladesh.

The fact that he now will be playing at international level, and becoming a major player for his nation, could also open up a chance to ignite his career, possibly leaving Leicester on loan or permanent.

He is on a long term deal, running until June 2027. Last season he got a bit of trust from Enzo Maresca, being given the captaincy on occasions, handed a new contract, but also going through troubled times off the field. Being a home grown local man, makes his appearance at the club a bit special. Showing players having the same background, that it’s possible to come through the youth system and reach the first team squad long term.

Choudhury has earlier been loaned out to Burton Albion and Watford, doing well for both clubs. Last season he also showed that he can do a good job at Championship level, contributing to the Leicester promotion.

To get regular first team football we believe Hamza Choudhury would be better off at Championship level, helping a club to push for promotion. Being used in his preferred role as a defensive midfielder, we all know how well he can perform, but competition in this area is hard at this point. Surely clubs a tier down will be asking for his services, if he becomes available.

There were a few rumours around last season about him joining Middlesbrough on loan, but surely clubs such as Stoke, Coventry, West Bromwich and Derby could al be good alternatives in a more closer distance.
