Ian Wright jumps to the defence of Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford who is enduring the worst period of his playing career.
Following a slow start to the campaign, the 27-year-old was hoping to bounce back under the tutelage of Ruben Amorim, but his situation has gone from bad or worse.
The demanding Portuguese tactician wasn’t impressed with what he saw from Rashford on the training field, so he decided to drop him and his teammate Alejandro Garnacho from the matchday squad ahead of the Derby showdown against Man City, which the Red Devils ultimately won thanks to Amad Diallo’s heroics.
While the Argentine winger has already made his way back to the coach’s selection, the England international’s status is proving much more complicated, especially after the remarks he made on Tuesday when he practically acknowledged that his time at the club could end sooner rather than later.
But unlike some of the other pundits in British media, Wright is refusing to give up on Rashford just yet.

In a passionate rant, the Arsenal legend accused some of his colleagues of hoping for the player’s failure just to prove their point, while insisting that the Man United star can still match the feats of Liverpool star Mo Salah, reports the Mirror.
“I got to Arsenal at 28, but you expect ME to write off someone with the ability Marcus has at 27!!!!,” posted the 61-year-old on his Instagram account.
“So many of you are desperate to see these young people fail so that you can say you were right! You would take 1% of the career Marcus has had!”
This post received the approval and appreciation of Jadon Sancho who was written off himself during his time at Old Trafford before reigniting his career after joining Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
