Vitor Pereira’s era at Wolves gets underway against Leicester City on Sunday but in the background, the club will be working hard to sort incomings and outgoings.
It’s been a disastrous start to the season for Wolves, who are currently in 19th position after 16 matches played and only two wins on the board.
Wolves sacked Gary O’Neil as a result on Sunday and quickly identified Vitor Pereira as his replacement, with the Portuguese boss signing an 18-month contract.
Pereira is already working hard on the training ground to resolve their defensive issues and the 56-year-old will also be assessing his squad in the meantime.
Wolves are expected to sign two defenders in January after failing to address that problem in the summer.
However, whilst incomings are a priority, a few players could leave next month, including one star who hasn’t played a single minute this term.

Swansea City in six-club chase to sign Wolves midfielder Luke Cundle
Some stars are expected to attract interest in the transfer window. Hwang Hee-chan is wanted by some European sides.
Meanwhile, Pablo Sarabia is being eyed by Sevilla whilst Manchester United are interested in Matheus Cunha.

Now, it’s emerged that forgotten midfielder Luke Cundle is on the transfer list of several EFL clubs.
According to Wales Online, Swansea City are joined by Championship sides Hull City, Oxford United, Bristol City, Blackburn Rovers and Preston in monitoring the 22-year-old.
The academy graduate hasn’t played a single minute in all competitions this term and in the summer, Wolves rejected Stoke’s £500,000 bid for Cundle.
Cundle, who Wolves valued at £4 million previously, is destined to leave in January with his contract expiring in 2026 and several clubs interested in his signature.
Wolves must also sell Pablo Sarabia
It’s the best for both parties if Cundle is allowed to leave as his career is stagnating while he’s banished from the starting lineup at Molineux.
The midfield metronome isn’t the only player Pereira should sell in January, as he should look to offload winger Sarabia.
Pereira will want to start players who are a part of his long-term project and Sarabia, whose contract expires in 2025, can either be sold next month or let go for nothing come June.
The 32-year-old has often shown his class since initially joining in January 2023 but, he’s also eaten up a lot of wages while nursing numerous injuries.
Wolves highest earners Weekly Wage
Goncalo Guedes £90,000
Pablo Sarabia £90,000
Nelson Semedo £80,000
Hwang Hee-chan £70,000
Matheus Cunha £60,000
Boubacar Traore £55,000
Wolves must look to release his £90,000-a-week wage and use them to sign a new defender, something that is highest on their list of priorities.
