Ruben Amorim has insisted so far that his focus is on getting the best out of players currently at his disposal but at some point, the transfer market will need to be looked at.
Manchester United generally don’t do heavy business in the January window and especially now, with their precarious position in regard to Financial Fair Play and Profit and Sustainability Rules, the situation is even more dicey.
Still, January is a window for opportunity and it can be argued that United’s best signing of the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era came in January.
Bruno Fernandes transformed the fortunes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side instantly upon arrival and as per Fabrizio Romano, another opportunity is set to present itself to United in the form of an ‘almost guaranteed’ exit of a transfer target.

Fabrizio Romano’s huge boost for Man Utd
United have steadily improved under Amorim and that’s huge credit to the Man Utd manager because barring injury-returnees, he’s had the same squad as Erik ten Hag did.
However, some holes in the squad are clearly visible which can only be taped over in one-off games with smart coaching, not fixed completely.
For example, left wing-back is a clear issue for this Man Utd squad with no outstanding option taking that position by the scruff of its neck.
Similarly, United have started scoring more goals than they were under Ten Hag, which is not a high bar to clear but the wastefulness that led to the defeat against Spurs laid bare the striking issue as well.
MORE UNITED STORIES
United have been linked with many strikers, including some who have worked under Amorim previously but they all seem to be marquee acquisitions who only make sense in the summer.
However, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that one of those targets, Randal Kolo Muani of PSG, is ‘sure and almost guaranteed’ to leave in January.
The French side are open to exploring offers for the striker on their conditions after Luis Enrique ostracised Kolo Muani completely this season.
🚨⚠️ Kolo Muani's exit in January is considered sure and almost guaranteed, as Luis Enrique keeps showing he doesn't count on the French striker anymore.
PSG are open to discuss Randal's exit on their conditions, same as Milan Skriniar.

Randal Kolo Muani Man Utd January move is a no-brainer
It was just a season ago when Kolo Muani was the toast of Europe and PSG beat intense competition, including from United, to secure his services.
The move hasn’t gone to plan for him at all, with the change of coach hampering his dreams of succeeding at the club, much like Manuel Ugarte, who’s excelling at United now.
United have just two strikers, arguably even just a single striker since Joshua Zirkzee is effectively a No. 10 in a striker’s body.
PSG are desperate to get rid of Kolo Muani so a potential January loan move till the end of the season is a no-brainer move from every involved party’s POV.
PSG get his wages off the books, United get a proven striker with a multi-faceted skillset to strengthen their attacking ranks, and the player finally gets to play some football.
It makes sense long-term as well because Kolo Muani’s value will depreciate the longer he goes without playing, which isn’t PSG’s ideal scenario. If United can negotiate an optional buy clause with a six-month loan, it would be a masterstroke.
PSG’s position is not getting any stronger with Romano coming out with noises like these. United won’t be complaining!
