Barcelona superstar can end the year as the top-scorer in top 5 European leagues

Although he has slowed down a bit lately, there is no doubt that the FC Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has had a great start to this 2024-25 season.

There was no catching him as he started the season in blazing form, scoring in almost every game that he played. These goals, along with the ones he scored in the second half of last season, bring him quite close to achieving a notable distinction.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Pole could end the year 2024 as the top scorer in the top five European leagues. Currently, he has 40 goals to his name, and he can further add to this tally as he still has one game to play, i.e., tonight’s game against Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Following him is the Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane, who has scored 39 goals this year. However, he will not be able to reach Lewandowski’s number, as he has already played all of his games scheduled this year.

Thus, Lewandowski’s closest challenger will be Erling Haaland. The Manchester City forward has scored 37 goals this year, but still has 3 games to play before the end of the year. Therefore, he will have a good chance of catching up with the Barcelona superstar.

Following Haaland are Jonathan David of Lille and Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid, who both have 35 goals to their name, 5 behind Robert Lewandowski.

The Polish veteran has scored in all the competitions he played in during this year. He opened the account for this year with a goal against Barbastro in the Copa del Rey, and then also scored in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

This season, he has already scored 16 goals in La Liga and another 7 goals in the UEFA Champions League, and is leading the goalscoring charts in both these competitions.
