Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Ederson 'doesn't feel good' as the Brazilian goalkeeper misses the trip to Aston Villa on Saturday lunch-time. Ederson has been the first choice keeper at City pretty much since his arrival in 2017, having racked up 350 appearances, although he was temporarily displaced by Stefan Ortega earlier this month for three games.
Ederson was restored to City's starting line-up for the defeat to Manchester United last weekend, meaning City have now won just one of their last 11 games in all competitions, but he is absent again at Villa Park and Ortega reclaims his place between the sticks. Ederson, though, is not alone in being missing today.
After the news in the week that Ruben Dias, Guardiola's first choice centre half, will miss the next three or four weeks with an injury, City have also travelled to the Second City without Matheus Nunes; the former Wolves winger played at left-back last Sunday and conceded the penalty which sparked United's comeback.
City are already without long-term injury absentees Rodri and Oscar Bobb, while Nathan Ake also remains sidelined, but Guardiola has been able to recover and name both John Stones and Manuel Akanji in his starting XI at Villa. Rico Lewis returns having served his one-match suspension.
Kevin De Bruyne and former Villa loanee Kyle Walker drop to the bench for this fixture, while Jack Grealish - who hasn't scored for City in a little over a year - returns to the starting line up at his former club.
